Seminar on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Primary Wood Products in Malaysia
MWIA was proud to support a seminar organized by FRIM and MTIB, highlighting the findings of a key Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study on kiln-dried sawn timber and plywood — led by Dr. Geetha Ramasamy (FRIM) under a project initiated by MWIA. Conducted in collaboration with MTIB, JPSM, MTC, MPMA, and MWMJC, the study adopts a cradle-to-gate approach, providing science-based data to evaluate environmental impacts throughout the production process.
A major milestone was the launch of the publication: “Insights from a Life Cycle Assessment of Timber Production in Peninsular Malaysia”, which includes detailed Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) and Impact Assessment (LCIA) reports for both products. This initiative reinforces Malaysia’s role as a leader in sustainable forestry and timber production, meeting global demand for credible LCA data.
