LCI Database Development Workshop for Primary Wood Products in Peninsular Malaysia
Organised by FRIM, a 2-day workshop on building a Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) database for the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of primary wood products was successfully held, with participation from FRIM, MTIB, JPSM, MPMA, and MWIA. Led by Dr. Indroneil Ganguly, an expert reviewer for the on-going LCA project, the workshop provided technical training on data structuring for kiln-dried sawn timber, plywood, and moulding manufacturing.
MWIA contributed significantly by helping develop impact data for 15 wood species/groups of kiln-dried sawn timber in Peninsular Malaysia, a key part of the Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA). The resulting database will be publicly accessible — supporting greater transparency, sustainability, and informed decision-making in Malaysia’s wood industry.
