Training Program: Malaysian Grading Rules (MGR) for Sawn Hardwood Timber
MWIA successfully conducted its first-ever HRD claimable training programme under the SBL scheme on the Malaysian Grading Rules (MGR) for Sawn Hardwood Timber. The 3-day programme received an overwhelming response from MWIA members, with a full turnout of 24 enthusiastic participants. Led by Mr. Pnosamy, a veteran timber inspector and grading consultant with over 40 years of industry experience. Days 1 & 2 focused on theoretical aspects of MGR, while Day 3 featured a hands-on session at PTC Timber Sdn Bhd’s sawmill in Balakong, where participants applied their knowledge to grade plank, strip, and scantling samples. The training enhanced participants' understanding of MGR and boosted their confidence in applying accurate timber grading practices. The practical exposure further helped solidify their grasp of real-world timber inspection techniques.
